Canadian Farmers & Landowners

Join a growing network of Canadian farmers using wollastonite to improve soil health, boost yields, and cut costs. We supply and spread this mineral-rich crushed rock on agricultural land at a subsidized rate; the farmer simply covers the cost of trucking.

Unlock The Power Of Wollastonite

Wollastonite is a locally sourced, sustainable soil amendment that supports crop strength and productivity. Rich in calcium and silicon, it improves root structure, boosts nutrient uptake, and increases resilience to pests and disease, all while supporting long-term soil health.

The Benefits of Wollastonite Rock for Your Farm

Explore the benefits of wollastonite for soil health, crop resilience, and long-term farm productivity.

Stronger Crops and Higher Yields

Wollastonite releases a powerful mix of nutrients, including calcium, silicon, and magnesium, improving root development, supporting nutrient uptake, and boosting overall plant strength. This results in increased yields, improved crop grades, and reduced lodging. Farmers across Canada have seen these results across a wide range of crops: from grains and vegetables to vineyards and pasture. As wollastonite is applied with standard lime equipment and approved for organic systems, it integrates easily into your existing farm practices.

Pest and Disease Resistance

Silicon is known as the "resilience nutrient" for a reason. It strengthens plant cell walls, improving tolerance to drought, fungal diseases like powdery mildew, and common crop pests. Field trials and real-world use have shown that wollastonite not only enhances plant defences but can also reduce the need for synthetic pesticides and fungicides over time, leading to more resilient, lower-maintenance crops.

Long-Lasting Lime Alternative

Wollastonite has a natural liming effect, but unlike traditional lime, its benefits last longer. It stabilises soil pH gradually over multiple growing seasons, reducing the need for frequent applications. This long-term pH control improves fertilizer efficiency and helps maintain optimal growing conditions, ultimately lowering your input costs. It's an effective, mineral-rich amendment that supports soil health for the long run.

How to Join the Program

We work directly with farmers as partners, not as customers. Unlike a traditional input supplier, UNDO doesn’t sell rock by the bag. Instead, our program members get access to free soil testing, spreading, and ongoing monitoring of their agronomic benefits while UNDO manages the carbon removal process in the background.

Eligible farms are within a 150 km radius of our partner site, Canadian Wollastonite, in Ontario. We focus on this region to reduce the carbon footprint of our operations while ensuring cost efficiency for you. However, there may be occasions where we can extend beyond this, so do get in touch.

We’ll take soil samples before and after spreading and will share these results with you, giving you insights into the long-term impact on your land and crops. We are partnering with farmers who have a pH of 6-7 to maximize the benefits for farmers and carbon removal for our planet.

Wollastonite is applied at 2–4 tonnes per acre using a standard lime spreader. We follow the Canadian spreading season, with peak operations in the Spring, Summer and Fall. We spread before or after harvest to ensure whole, healthy, and intact crops.

Wollastonite is provided at no cost to farmers – your only expense is trucking. In many cases, trucking is subsidised as part of our program. This makes wollastonite a highly affordable and valuable alternative to inputs such as lime and artificial fertilizers.

Local Partnerships, Global Impact

UNDO works directly with local contractors to supply and spread wollastonite across Eastern Ontario, creating green jobs, supporting rural economies, and ensuring farmers receive expert, reliable service.

At the same time, the rock is capturing carbon. As it reacts with rain and soil, wollastonite permanently binds with CO2 from the air through enhanced rock weathering, a scientifically proven process that makes agriculture part of the solution to climate change. Our program is funded by the sale of carbon credits, allowing us to cover the cost of spreading and offer subsidised trucking for farmers like you.

The Nutrient Composition of Wollastonite

View the full breakdown →

Calcium

24.6%
Essential for strengthening plant cell walls, making crops more resistant to disease and environmental stress. It’s crucial for root development, improving nutrient uptake.

Silicon

59.2%
Known as the “resilience nutrient,” silicon helps plants withstand drought, pests, and diseases. It also enhances nutrient uptake efficiency, making fertilizers more effective.

Magnesium

5.76%
A key component of chlorophyll, magnesium, supports photosynthesis, energy transfer, and healthy leaf development, maintaining overall crop health.

Sulphur

1.6%
A vital component of plant proteins, promoting the formation of essential amino acids to support plant growth; it’s also involved in photosynthesis.

Potassium

1%
Supports root growth and improves drought resistance. Although present in smaller quantities, potassium plays a critical role in plant water regulation and stress tolerance.

Iron

2.6%
Enhances chlorophyll synthesis and oxygen transport within plants, promoting vigorous growth and healthy foliage.

Manganese

0.05%
An important co-factor for photosynthesis and hormone synthesis, manganese supports healthy root development and enzyme function.

Farmers Leading the Way to a Healthier Planet

ERW has the potential to lock away up to 4 billion tonnes of CO2 per year – 40% of global targets – and Canada is leading the charge. Proven in lab and field experiments at universities around the world, ERW makes agriculture part of the solution to climate change.

STRONGER SOIL. HEALTHIER CROPS. LOWER INPUT COSTS.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know trying something new on your land can come with questions. Here are straightforward answers to help you understand what wollastonite does, how the program works, and whether it might be a good fit for your farm.

Lime provides a quick pH adjustment, but its effects wear off quickly, requiring frequent applications. Wollastonite raises and stabilises pH for longer while also releasing key nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and silicon for lasting soil health and crop resilience.

Wollastonite is most effective in moderately acidic to neutral soils but can provide benefits in a range of conditions. We are partnering with farmers who have a pH of 6-7 to maximise the benefits for your land and carbon removal for our planet.

Wollastonite is suitable for all crops, including pasture, and has been approved by respected organic certification bodies such as OMRI. Research trials have demonstrated increased yields in crops like wheat and pastureland. Wollastonite also improves root strength, enhances nutrient uptake, and boosts resilience to environmental stresses like drought and disease.

We cover the cost of supplying and spreading the rock. We simply ask the farmer to pay for trucking, which is calculated based on the location of your farm. Trucking is subsidized in many cases.

Some benefits, such as pH stabilization and improved soil structure, are noticeable in the first season. Others, like increased crop resilience and nutrient availability, continue to develop over multiple growing cycles.

Wollastonite is spread using standard lime-spreading equipment, making it easy to integrate into current farm operations. Typically applied at 2–4 tonnes per acre, we follow the Canadian spreading season, with peak operations in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The program is funded by the sale of carbon removal credits. By spreading wollastonite on farmland, we capture and store CO2 from the atmosphere. Our farmers enjoy the soil and crop benefits, while the carbon credits are sold on the voluntary market to fund and scale this initiative.

It’s simple! Contact our team to check your eligibility. We’ll assess your farm’s location, soil type, and spreading logistics to confirm if wollastonite is the right fit for your land.
